about

At the end of 2012, the Copenhagen-based singer Nicole Herzog and the pianist Stewy von Wattenwyl from Bern founded the ensemble "Nicole Herzog-Stewy von Wattenwyl Group" and produced the album together"INTIMACY", which tells little-known stories about love, life and passion from the cornucopia of the Great American Songbook in a simple, unpretentious way and with excellent sound quality.

The album became a great success. The band has played more than 100 concert sets in smaller and larger clubs since 2013, was invited to tour Germany, won the "Swiss Jazz Award" in 2014 and delighted a wide audience at various international festivals, including the "Jazz Festival Ascona", the " Festival da Jazz” in St. Moritz, at the “Generation Jazz Festival” in Frauenfeld. This was followed by engagements in the Bernese jazz club Marians Jazz Room in the Swiss Jazzorama Uster and many more

Of course, such success obliges us to keep working. In the fall of 2016, the band took with them"I LOVE YOU BILLIE"released a second album, which takes two big birthdays in 2015 as an occasion:

On April 7th, 2015, Billie Holiday, the mother of modern jazz singing, would have turned 100 and on October 10th, 2015 it was the anniversary of the premiere of George Gershwin's jazz opera "Porgy and Bess", which is certainly the most important American musical in terms of content and music. for the 80th time.

So timeless, mature music, which, thanks to Stewy von Wattenwyl's refreshing arrangements in formations from duo to quintet, comes in a completely new, contemporary look.

Nicole, supported by an extremely agile band, sings the songs as if they were her own. With a sometimes fragile, sometimes powerful voice, she inspires with a lot of devotion and depth.

In 2018 Stewy von Wattenwyl produced the album with Nicole and an extended formation"PORGY AND BESS".

INTIMACY

The classical art of ballads is Nicole Herzog's strength. She recorded "Intimacy" (Brambus 207370-2) with her pianist Stewy von Wattenwyl and some accompanists last summer in Bern, Switzerland.

A fabulously coherent album, appeal, or maybe because of a distant coolness in her personality. So this music actually lives from an intimate atmosphere and is exciting at the same time. Even in those moments when the band is feather-light forcing or luxuriating in fevered bossa nova. Nicole Herzog's voice has character, her intonation is balanced, her phrasing is classy - without copying the great ladies of jazz. Jazz singing with heart and soul and skillfully arranged between tradition and modernity.
