Stewy von Wattenwyl was born into a musical family december 25 1962. Already at the age of 5 he has been fascinated by the sound of the piano. He started piano lessons at the Conservatory of Berne when he was eight and studied classical music for about 10 years. In 1995 he enrolled in the famous Swiss Jazz School in Berne Switzerland and graduated in 1998.
In the nineties the classical piano trio with bass and drums was to become Stewy's favorite line-up. Therefore six of his CD's are trio recordings. But in unnumerous projects from solo piano up to Bigband Stewy became also a very experienced and demanded accompanist.
He had the pleasure to work with many of the worlds greatest jazz musicians such as Art Farmer, Clark Terry, Johnny Griffin, Dusko Goykovic, Alvin Queen, Bob Mintzer, George Robert, Bobby Shew, John Allred, Reggie Johnson, Eric Alexander, Sandy Patton, Bert Joris, Ryan Kisor, Ed Neumeister, Joe Ascione a.m.o
but also with the most valid players of the Swiss scene, such as Domenic Landolf, Alex Hendriksen, Giorgos Antoniou, Nick Perrin, Pius Baschnagel, Daniel Schläppi, Tobias Friedli, Lance Beyeler, Christoph Sprenger, Martin Streule, Daniel Schenker, Mats Spillmann, Roman Schwaller, Christian Münchinger, Sandro Schneebeli, Rolf Häsler, Daniel Aebi, Bernhard Bamert, Elmar Frey, Herbie Kopf, Christoph Schweizer a.m.o.
